Recruiting is always a fluid situation and Arkansas was able to secure the commitment of former South Carolina commit Jayden Johnson.
The Arkansas Razorbacks have been recruiting Jayden Johnson aggressively and when South Carolina fired Will Muschamp, the Razorbacks were able to secure Johnson’s commitment. Johnson is a Sam Pittman and Barry Odom type of player. Johnson is not afraid to get dirty and step up to make a play when his team needs it. With the Arkansas recruiting staff focusing on the defensive side of the ball to close out recruiting, Johnson’s commitment gives the Hogs the first commitment to close out recruiting.
The Arkansas secondary is an area of the team that has been picked on over the past few weeks and adding some depth to that unit is not going to hurt one thing. Iron sharpens iron and adding a player of Johnson’s caliber will give Arkansas options in the secondary. Arkansas is in need of a safety that can play the ball as well as the man and the commitment of Johnson helps resolve that issue.

Johnson is a player that does an exceptional job of playing the ball while it is in the air. Johnson has no problem going up and high pointing the football. He has played on both sides of the ball in high school and he has impressive speed that will serve him well in the SEC. The trait that will stand out the most to Arkansas fans is that he will not drop the football. Johnson has been used effectively on both sides of the ball; however, the area Arkansas will have a need for him is in the secondary.
Arkansas is closing out the 2020 recruiting season in a strong fashion. Arkansas fans should expect the team to continue to focus on the defensive side of the ball. The Arkansas Razorbacks have a top 20 class and right now fans have to be impressed with the talent Pittman and his staff continue to bring to Fayetteville.
