The Razorbacks Defense Will Be Able to Stop Sean White
I already know what you’re thinking, and the answer is no. This is not the X-Games/Olympic superstar Shaun White (although at the moment the two do have the same amount of touchdown passes). Sean White is the new starting quarterback for the Auburn Tigers, or you may know him as the guy who was confused for being 200 years old earlier in the season.
Thankfully it was figured out that he was not 200 years old (or a vampire) and White was able to continue his career at Auburn. He came in replacing the extremely overrated Jeremy Johnson after an embarrassing 45-21 loss to the LSU Tigers. White’s first career start came against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, where the Tigers could not even muster a touchdown and subsequently lost 17-9. White threw for 188 yards and 1 interception.
Since then the road hasn’t been that rough for Sean White. His next two starts were against the country’s “biggest and baddest”, San Jose State and Kentucky. White accumulated 363 yards passing in those two games. Although his stats so far this year have been fairly good, all Auburn fans will see is the mountainous zero in the touchdown passes column.

Now we’ll get to how he stacks up against the Hogs this week. Although the Tigers come in with a 4-2 record on the season, their performance has been far poorer than anybody imagined for 2015. Preseason, Jeremy Johnson was selected as the second ranked SEC quarterback. So you can see how much of a shock it is to everyone when a freshman 200 year–I mean 20 year old– is called to take the reigns of Gus Malzahn’s offense.
As Hog fans, we don’t want White to get his first career touchdown pass on us. But I don’t think he will, because our defense has simply improved week by week. Lately in the media and on the field we are seeing something out of our defensive players that we haven’t seen all year, and that’s confidence. Bielema has spoken out many times this week about our younger guys getting the reps they needed to, and about how similar our defense is looking to the defense we saw in the last half of the 2014 season. And our defense has proved that they can stop

quarterbacks now with ease, especially in the last couple of weeks. We halted Joshua Dobbs at Tennessee to just 7 rushing yards after coming off a 136 yard game against Florida the week before. Then just two weeks ago against the Alabama Crimson Tide, we were able to force two interceptions out of Jake Coker, the most he had thrown since their loss to Ole Miss. The Hogs also held Derrick Henry to less than 100 yards rushing, which is an admirable feat in it’s own right.
Proving that the Hogs are able to stop both mobile and pocket quarterbacks is the main reason to why I am confident the trend will continue with Sean White on Saturday. The Hogs defense is coming alive, and it is becoming apparent very quickly.
