Betting on Sam Pittman to lead the Razorbacks to 8 wins

I am not a gambling man. Well, not on Razorback sports, anyway, but I believe in Sam Pittman. I believe in Pittman at such a level that I want to make a bet with the folks who don’t.

So, this week’s Sunday Sermon is really for the Pittman non-believers. It’s a small but vocal group, and I want to help them put their money where their mouths (and keyboard fingers) are.

I am convinced that Pittman will win against Missouri in Columbia for the first time in school history and win whatever bowl game the Razorbacks compete in. I am convinced enough to make a little friendly wager on it.

Here’s my proposition: If Pittman gets the Razorbacks to eight wins this season (which would be 17 in two years, the best two-year span in over a decade), all the haters and message board warriors calling for his job have to take all of next year off.

That’s right! If he gets to eight wins, the armchair athletic directors must take a sabbatical next season, regardless of what happens. They could complain about a million different things but cannot call for Pittman to be fired. For an entire season.

If he doesn’t–if he loses either of the two remaining games–I will write two separate pieces arguing that both coordinators should be replaced before the start of next season. If the Razorbacks lose both games, I will write a third piece stating Pittman should come into next season on the hot seat.

Are you taking that bet, Pittman haters?

How confident are you feeling, folks? Are you willing to eat your crow if the team gets it done?

After yesterday’s 42-27 (though it wasn’t that close) win over #14 Ole Miss, I don’t see how you can be anything but bought into this team and this coaching staff. Coming off back-to-back home losses and some off-the-field issues, fans had every right to believe that Pittman had lost this team.

But that is why the games are played on the field, not on paper. This team looked invested and locked in from the opening kickoff. I see no reason to believe the head hog, Mr. Ol’ Col’ Beer himself, can’t make that happen two more times.

So what do you say? Do we have a bet?

Next. Some fans are losing their grip on reality. dark
