FINAL SCORE: Arkansas Razorbacks 14 – Alabama Crimson Tide 27
Arkansas was leading 7-3 late in the third quarter. Then the damn burst open, and the Crimson Tide came rushing through the cracks.

The Razorbacks defense looked great pretty much all night, but got absolutely zero help from their offense. I literally can’t count high enough to count the 3 and outs or sub 2:00 drives by the Arkansas offense. We all know that Alabama has the best front 7 in college football, but Arkansas has the biggest offensive line in all of football. How little faith did Bret Bielema have in his offensive line and running backs tonight? 4th and 1 on the Alabama side of the field, the Hogs punted. Which makes the fake punt on the next possession when facing a 4th and 5 that much more questionable. The truth is that Arkansas’ offense is crippled, and it showed tonight. Drew Morgan and Hunter Henry were pretty much non-existent, except for the touchdown to Morgan in the first half. And let’s be honest about that, the only reason the Hogs scored any points in this game is because the defense set them up inside the 20 yard line. Dan Enos has brought a new scheme to Arkansas, and he’s missing a lot of key players, but there is absolutely no excuse for the lack of offensive production tonight by the Hogs. The defense, however, deserves all the recognition and praise that they will get this week. Despite giving up the deep touchdown in the 3rd quarter, the Hogs were able to limit the rushing attack of Alabama all night long. By the end of the game, the Razorbacks were absolutely gassed on the defensive side of the ball, and understandably so. Before the defense could get on the sideline and get a drink, they were back on the field. Robb Smith has Frankensteined together a defensive unit that will put the Hogs in a position to win some games down the stretch this season. The issue for Arkansas is on offense, which was painfully obvious tonight. I don’t know what the answer is for the Hogs. The Razorbacks will continue to face tough SEC defenses, because that’s what you get when you play in the SEC west. Special teams play for Arkansas has been lacking all year, and it really hurt Arkansas tonight. How can an SEC team not kickoff into the endzone? The punt coverage for the Hogs has given up too many yards all season long. I have so many questions, but Saturday night is not the time to look for answers.

There really isn’t a player of the game for the Hogs on offense. Any and all acclaim is deserved by the defense tonight for keeping the game close. A late score on a hell of an effort play by Brandon Allen and Dominique Reed made the score much more respectable, but one play doesn’t negate 4 quarters of ineffectiveness. Give a game ball to Santos Ramirez and Josh Liddell for their big interceptions. The Arkansas defensive line deserves a massive amount of credit for holding the Alabama rushing attack at bay. Basically, if the Razorback defense plays like that the rest of the season, then Arkansas stands a pretty good chance of making a bowl game this year. Great job by Robb Smith and the defensive staff this week. The Hogs get a bye week before hosting Auburn in a very winnable game. The Tigers have been struggling all year, and the Hogs could use a big win. We’ll have more analysis on Alabama on Sunday. Let’s take a look at the best tweets, videos, and highlights.
