Arkansas Razorbacks: Kane Whitehurst Released from Football Team

Fayetteville, Ark.- The Arkansas Razorback athletic department announced today that redshirt freshman wide receiver Kane Whitehurst has been released from his football scholarship.

Whitehurst, 6’0″, 180 pounds, from Alpharetta, GA, was arrested on April 1 on drug possession after joy riding through a campus parking structure.

Whitehurst, the cousin of NFL star Charlie Whitehurst, was the North Fulton Region Offensive Player of the Year by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for the 2010 high school football season season.

Over the weekend Kane tweeted “time to give this JC thing a try”.

Six Arkansas players have been arrested since spring football began. Four players on the  2011 Arkansas football team from the 2011 recruiting class are no longer with the Razorbacks- Whitehurst, WR Qunita Funderburk, LB Brock Haman, and DE Lonnie Gosha.
