Last weekend, Wehiwa Aloy put on a Golden Spikes-worthy performance in the Fayetteville Regional. And on Wednesday afternoon, he's one step closer to being the winner of the coveted award.

Wehiwa Aloy named finalist for Golden Spike, two other awards.

This season, Aloy has been the hands-down best player on the team. From his acrobatic, "Jeter-esque" fielding plays at shortstop to leading the team in batting average, slugging percentage, and on-base plus slugging percentage, the Hawai'i Native has made long strides from his first season as a Razorback.

He's started all 59 games this season, averaging .355 at the plate, slugging for .686, with an On-base percentage of .440. He's No. 2 in RBIs with 64, second to only his brother Kuhio's 69 RBIs.

Aloy is one of three finalists, including another shortstop, Alex Lodise of Florida State, and Tennessee prised pitcher, Liam Doyle. The latter will face off against Aloy and the Razorbacks this weekend at the Fayetteville Super Regional. The last time the two squared off, Doyle struck Aloy out twice while getting battered by the rest of the Arkansas lineup.

The Golden Spike is just one award Aloy's been named a finalist of this week. On Wednesday, he was also named the finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award for the best shortstop in the country. And today, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named four finalists for the Dick Howser Trophy, recognizing the Player of the Year.

If Aloy wins the Golden Spikes, he would be the third Razorback to win the award and a shoo-in for the other two awards. Fans can vote for Aloy up until June 20 at this link here, and the winner will be announced on June 21.
