Going into today's game, everyone knew that Taylen Green needed to play lights out for a chance to win. The lack of proven contributors surrounding him put him under more pressure than any other game this season.
Not only did he deliver, but he had a performance that could springboard his senior year.
The former Boise transfer earned AutoZone Liberty Bowl MVP after he threw for 341 yards and two touchdowns, going 11/21 for 52 percent. The performance was good enough for a 220.2 passer rating. He also led the team with 81 yards rushing — tied with Rodney Hill — and a touchdown.
More important than his stat line was his decision-making. Green threw zero interceptions and held onto the ball all night. His vision downfield was also great, hitting open receivers left and right.
He had five passes for 30 yards or more, with three of at least 47. Two were touchdowns to Tyrell Reed and Dazmin James, the latter being a new Arkansas record of 94 yards.
No doubt, it was a career day for Green. But now the question is, will it translate to next season?
