The seventh week of the 2025 NCAA DI baseball season is complete, as all 16 teams in the Southeastern Conference show off their best stuff. Despite arguably being the best conference in the nation, it is beginning to show how hard it is to win in a league with so much firepower.

SEC Power Rankings: Week 7

Top five

Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Georgia and LSU all remain in the top five of our power rankings at first, second, third, fourth and fifth place, respectively.

The Volunteers began their week with a convincing 14-3 win over Queens on Tuesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium before traveling to Columbia, S.C., to take on South Carolina. Tennessee swept the series, with the only real trouble coming in Saturday’s game, where the team had to rally with two runs in both the eighth and ninth innings to seal a 7-5 victory at Founders Park. The Volunteers are 26-2 on the year with an SEC record of 8-1.

The Razorbacks stumbled on Tuesday at Baum-Walker Stadium by blowing a five-run lead in the top of the ninth to Missouri State in a slugfest. The Bears triumphed over the Hogs, 14-13, in extras, with Nick Rodriguez hitting a solo shot in the top of the tenth to grab the lead. The rough loss left a bad taste in Arkansas’s mouth as the team traveled to Nashville, Tenn., to take on Vanderbilt.

The Razorbacks used the motivation from Tuesday to sweep the Commodores for the first time since 2005, as well as winning a series in Charles Hawkins Field for the first time since 2010. After a 9-0 shutout victory on Friday, the Hogs were taken into a 10-inning battle on Saturday but eventually pulled out the win, 6-4. While trailing 3-2 on Sunday, Arkansas used a five-run rally in the top of the eighth to complete the sweep over Vanderbilt to improve to 26-3 on the year.

The Longhorns began their week with a 13-3 run-rule win over Sam Houston State on Tuesday at home at UFCU Disch-Falk Field before traveling to Columbia, Mo. Texas went on to sweep Missouri in the three-game weekend series at Taylor Stadium and is undefeated on the road at 6-0.

The Bulldogs opened up the week with a 13-6 win over West Georgia at home at Foley Field before welcoming Auburn for the weekend series. Georgia swept the three-game series but had some trouble in Sunday’s finale. The Tigers plated two runs in the top of the 10th to take a 6-4 lead. The Bulldogs went on to rally in the bottom half of the frame by scoring two runs on an error to tie the game. Daniel Jackson sent the crowd home happy with a three-run bomb to complete the comeback and the sweep, 9-6.

The Tigers blasted the Louisiana-Lafayette Rajun’ Cajuns on Tuesday, 17-4, in run-rule fashion at Alex Box Stadium before welcoming the Mississippi State Bulldogs with a three-game series that started on Thursday. LSU swept the series but had to grind out the first two victories on Thursday, 8-6, and Friday, 2-1. The Tigers stomped the Bulldogs on Saturday to complete the sweep with a giant 17-8 win.

Middles of the pack

Alabama and Oklahoma both remained at sixth and seventh, respectively, after dueling each other over the weekend. Before the three-game series, both teams picked up a midweek victory on Tuesday, with the Crimson Tide walking off the North Alabama Lions, 4-3, and the Sooners handling the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles, 11-2.

Alabama took the first game of the series on Friday, 8-6, in comeback fashion in front of its home crowd at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. Oklahoma evened up the series with a 6-5 win on Saturday that featured a wild ninth inning. The Crimson Tide took the series on Sunday, 8-6, but had to halt a late comeback attempt by the Sooners.

Ole Miss jumped up two spots in our ranking to eighth place after a solid week. The Rebels started out with a 7-5 midweek win over the Memphis Tigers on Tuesday before inviting a struggling Florida team to Swayze Field. Ole Miss picked up a 7-5 victory in the series opener on Thursday to set the tone before heading into a doubleheader on Friday.

The Rebels were trailing, 9-7, going into the bottom of the ninth in the first game. Will Furniss roped a two-run double to tie the game and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Austin Fawley to take the series, 10-9. Ole Miss went in for the sweep in the series finale, going into the top of the ninth with an 8-6 lead. The Gators rallied with five runs to salvage the win, but the Rebels are still 6-3 in conference play.

Auburn and Vanderbilt each dropped a spot to ninth and 10th place, respectively. The Tigers opened up the week with a neutral site game on Tuesday against the South Alabama Cougars in Montgomery, Ala., at Riverwalk Stadium. Auburn picked up the easy 13-5 win but was swept over the weekend by Georgia, as previously mentioned. The Commodores had the same fate by picking up a 10-0 run-rule win over Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday at Charles Hawkins Field before getting swept by Arkansas over the weekend at home.

Kentucky and South Carolina switched places at 11th and 12th, respectively. The Wildcats started off on the wrong foot with a 9-3 loss to the Xavier Musketeers on Tuesday at home at Kentucky Proud Park before traveling to College Station, Texas, to take on the Texas A&M Aggies. Kentucky dropped Friday’s series opener, 9-7, but struck back on Saturday with a 14-11 shootout victory.

The Wildcats took the series on Sunday with a 10-5 win, thanks to some consistent offense. The Gamecocks went 0-4 over the week with a 13-8 loss to North Carolina on Tuesday in Charlotte, N.C., at Truist Field and were swept by Tennessee over the weekend, as previously mentioned. South Carolina is on a seven-game losing streak and has dropped to 17-12 on the year with a 1-8 SEC record.

Bottom of the barrel

Florida, Mississippi State and Texas A&M remained near the bottom of the list at 13th, 14th and 15th, respectively.

The Gators lost their midweek contest on Tuesday to their rival, Florida State, 8-4, in Jacksonville, Fla., at Vystar Ballpark. After dropping the first two games of the series to Ole Miss, Florida picked up its first conference win of the season in the series finale of Friday’s doubleheader, as previously mentioned.

The Bulldogs soundly defeated Samford on Tuesday at Dudy Noble Field, 6-1, but were swept by LSU on the road in Baton Rouge, La. Mississippi State is 16-12 overall and 1-8 in conference play.

The Aggies picked up a 7-2 win over Houston Christian at home at Bryan-College Station before welcoming in the Kentucky Wildcats. Texas A&M took the first game of the series but dropped the next two, as previously mentioned. The Aggies are still looking for answers as they continue to struggle in SEC play.

Missouri remains at the bottom of the list for the sixth straight week this season. The Tigers started out the week by grinding out an 11-9 midweek victory over Illinois on the road on Tuesday at Grizzlies Ballpark but were swept by Texas. Missouri is now the only team in the SEC without a conference win at 0-9.
