The 10th week of the 2025 NCAA DI Baseball season was a bit wild in the Southeastern Conference. A few upsets took place, with a couple of teams getting on hot streaks at the right time.
SEC Baseball Power Rankings
Top five
Texas remains at No. 1 in the power rankings after another strong week. The Longhorns started by dominating an impressive UTRGV Vaqueros team on Tuesday at home before welcoming the Auburn Tigers to UFCU Disch-Falk Field. Texas swept Auburn in the three-game series by first edging out a 3-2 win on Thursday in the series opener. After an 8-3 victory on Friday, the Longhorns sent the Tigers home with a 14-2 run-rule win in seven innings on Saturday to finish the week 4-0.
Arkansas and Tennessee both kept their positions at second and third place despite both teams dropping two out of three over the weekend.
The Razorbacks started their six-game homestand by run-ruling the UAPB Golden Lions on Tuesday in eight innings, 13-3, before taking on the Texas A&M Aggies in a three-game series at Baum-Walker Stadium. Texas A&M kept its hot streak going by nabbing the series opener on Thursday, 7-4. The Hogs and the Aggies finished up the series on Friday with a doubleheader.
Arkansas evened up the series in the first game of the twin bill, 11-5, with RHP Gabe Gaeckle coming out of the bullpen to finish off the final 5.2 innings. Texas A&M ultimately won the series with a 9-2 victory in the series finale. It was the Razorbacks' first home series loss since May of 2022.
The Volunteers started out with a 13-3 run-rule win over the Bellarmine Knights on Tuesday in Knoxville, TN, before inviting the Kentucky Wildcats to Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Tennessee took the series opener in convincing fashion on Friday, 8-2, but Kentucky came back on Saturday by evening the series with a 4-1 win. The Wildcats pulled off the upset on Sunday with an 8-2 victory to take the series over the Volunteers. This is the second time in a row that Tennessee has lost a home series.
LSU jumped up a spot in the rankings to fourth place. The Tigers began their week by defeating the McNeese Cowboys on Tuesday at home, 10-3, before inviting the Alabama Crimson Tide to Alex Box Stadium. LSU won the series opener on Thursday, 11-6, thanks to a couple of late-inning rallies. The Tigers won the series on Friday, 4-3, in a close contest. Alabama came away with the series finale on Saturday, 7-4, to avoid the sweep.
Vanderbilt moved up three spots to fifth place after a really good week. The Commodores first nabbed a 5-4 win over the Lipscomb Bisons on Tuesday at Hawkins Field in 10 innings thanks to a walk-off RBI single by Colin Barczi, who came into the game as a pinch hitter. Vanderbilt remained home to take on Georgia and took the series opener on Thursday, 3-1, in comeback fashion. The Commodores took the series on Friday with a 13-7 victory and completed the sweep on Saturday by defeating the Bulldogs, 5-2.
Middle of the pack
Georgia fell down two spots in the rankings to sixth. The Bulldogs took down the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Tuesday on the road at Truist Park, 5-2, before getting swept by the Vanderbilt Commodores, as previously mentioned.
Ole Miss fell down a spot to seventh after a rough week. The Rebels were slain by the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans on Tuesday at home, 7-3, before heading to Columbia, S.C., to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks at Founders Park. South Carolina took Thursday’s series opener with a 3-2 win and sealed the series with a 7-2 victory on Friday. Ole Miss used this frustration by winning the series finale on Saturday, 12-2, in run-rule fashion.
Oklahoma jumped up two spots to eighth place in the rankings. The Sooners first traveled to Stillwater, OK, on Tuesday to run-rule longtime rival the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 11-1, in eight innings before heading to Columbia, MO, to face the Missouri Tigers. Oklahoma run-ruled Missouri in all three games of the series. The Sooners took the series opener on Thursday, 17-4, in eight innings and swept Friday’s doubleheader with a 17-7 win in eight innings in the first game and a 12-1 victory in seven innings in the second game.
Auburn dropped down two spots to ninth place in our rankings. The Tigers pulled out a 4-3 midweek win over the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Tuesday on the road at Rudy Abbott Field before getting swept by Texas in Arlington, Texas, as previously mentioned.
Alabama fell down from ninth to 10th in the rankings. The Crimson Tide first took a 5-3 win over the UAB Blazers at home at Sewell-Thomas Stadium before dropping two out of three to LSU on the road, as previously mentioned.
Bottom of the barrel
Kentucky and Texas A&M remained where they were at 11th and 12th, respectively. The Wildcats barely defeated Miami (OH) at Kentucky Proud Park, 4-3, thanks to a walk-off bunt single by Ethan Hindle. Kentucky went on the road to take two out of three over Tennessee over the weekend, as previously mentioned.
The Aggies defeated the Tarleton State Texans on Tuesday, 11-3, before taking two out of three from Arkansas on the road, as previously mentioned.
Florida and Mississippi State swapped places at 13th and 14th, respectively, after facing off against each other over the weekend.
The Gators started out by running the Stetson Hatters at home, 14-4, on Tuesday, while the Bulldogs ran the Southern Jaguars out of Starkville, Miss., with a 16-2 run-rule victory. Mississippi State welcomed Florida to Dudy Noble Field for a three-game series to kick off the weekend. The Gators run-ruled the Bulldogs in Friday’s series opener, 13-3, in eight innings before taking the series on Saturday in comeback fashion, 11-8. Mississippi State salvaged the series finale on Sunday in a high-scoring affair, 14-8.
South Carolina and Missouri both remain at the bottom of the list at 15th and 16th, respectively.
The Gamecocks began their week with a 4-0 shutout win over the Citadel at Founders Park on Tuesday before taking two out of three from Ole Miss over the weekend, as previously mentioned.
The Tigers started out by pulling out a 10-9 victory over the Missouri State Bears at home at Taylor Stadium before getting swept by Oklahoma, as previously mentioned. Missouri is the only team in the SEC without a conference victory at 0-18.
