Momentum is building around a major development for Arkansas football. Four-star quarterback Hank Hendrix, a Fayetteville native and one of the top signal-callers in the country, is gaining serious traction toward reclassifying to the Class of 2026 and enrolling at Arkansas as early as May, according to sources affiliated with the program. While nothing is official yet, the possibility is very real, and it could significantly reshape the Razorbacks’ quarterback room moving forward.
Hank Hendrix: 2027 Four-Star With Eyes Set on 2026
Currently ranked as the No. 117 overall player nationally and the No. 9 quarterback in his class, Hendrix is already viewed as one of the most promising young passers in the country. He is a four-star recruit by both 247Sports and the 247Sports Composite, and was originally the No. 1 player in the state of Arkansas for the 2027 class before reclassification rumors began to gain steam.
If Hendrix does make the move, Arkansas’ quarterback room would grow to four scholarship quarterbacks: KJ Jackson, AJ Hill, Braeden Fuller, and potentially Hendrix. That creates a wide-open competition group built almost entirely on projection and development. Jackson, Hill, and Hendrix are all young and still growing into their play, while Fuller brings experience as a Division II starter but is new to the FBS level.
Hendrix’s production speaks for itself. His 2024 season served as a true breakout, as he threw for 4,237 yards and 46 touchdowns, announcing himself as one of the most productive quarterbacks in the region. He followed that up with another strong campaign in 2025, finishing with 3,602 passing yards and 32 touchdowns, proving the breakout wasn’t a fluke.
From a scouting standpoint, Hendrix fits the mold of a pro-style quarterback. He shows good arm strength with natural velocity generated through his hips, paired with clean mechanics and consistent footwork in the pocket. While he still needs time to physically develop, currently listed at 6’3”, 165 pounds, that’s expected given he’s only 17 years old. The upside is easy to see once he adds weight and strength, especially considering how effortlessly the ball already comes out of his hand.
Silverfield Continues to Win Over Hog Nation
Hendrix’s recruitment has been anything but quiet. Programs like Auburn, Michigan, Duke, and Baylor were all in the mix, underscoring how highly he’s regarded nationally. Keeping that level of talent in-state would be a major win for Arkansas and new head coach Ryan Silverfield, especially at a position that can define a program’s trajectory.
If Silverfield can close the deal and officially bring Hendrix to Fayetteville early, it would represent more than just a quarterback addition, it would signal a shift in direction. For Razorback fans hungry for hope and long-term stability at the position, Hendrix would immediately become the face of what the future could look like.
Nothing is finalized yet, but if this momentum turns into reality, Arkansas fans may soon find themselves in the honeymoon phase, dreaming big, believing again, and wondering if this could finally be the quarterback who helps push Razorback football back toward the national conversation.
