Arkansas baseball has never forgotten its roots, and now the Razorbacks are stitching them directly into the fabric of the program’s future.

Arkansas Baseball Pays Tribute to Norm DeBriyn With New Jersey Look

The Hogs have unveiled a new alternate jersey honoring legendary head coach Norm DeBriyn, a tribute that blends old-school tradition with modern flair, much like the man who helped shape Arkansas baseball into a national power. The uniform will be worn on March 27th recognizing DeBriyn’s lasting impact on the program, with the entire coaching staff and roster donning No. 23, the number DeBriyn wore throughout his coaching career. The gesture mirrors the reverence of Jackie Robinson Day in Major League Baseball, underscoring just how foundational DeBriyn is to Razorback baseball.

The jersey itself tells a story.

Inspired by the throwback wordmark jerseys worn during the 1970s, the design features a classic look reimagined through a modern lens, clean lines, timeless typography, and subtle details that reward a closer look. On the shoulder rests a Hall of Fame patch that serves as the emotional centerpiece of the uniform. The patch includes DeBriyn’s iconic No. 23, his signature scripted across it, and the year of his induction into the College Baseball Hall of Fame, adding a cinematic layer of permanence to the tribute.

The headwear completes the look with equal intention. The cap features an elegant script logo, a nod to the past, while the angelous hog appears on the back of the hat, symbolizing both the grit and pride that have long defined Arkansas baseball. Every element feels deliberate, respectful, and deeply rooted in program history.

That history begins, and in many ways centers, with Norm DeBriyn.

DeBriyn served as the head coach of the Razorbacks for 33 seasons, building Arkansas baseball from the ground up and guiding it into the national spotlight. Under his leadership, the Razorbacks made their first-ever NCAA Super Regional appearance and became a consistent postseason presence. He compiled an astonishing career record of 1,161-650-6, ranking as the 14th-winningest coach in Division I baseball history.

His teams reached the College World Series four times, most notably finishing as national runner-up in 1979. Over the course of his tenure, Arkansas earned 15 NCAA postseason berths and captured three conference championships, setting standards that still define the program today.

Individual accolades followed, but DeBriyn never coached for recognition. Still, the honors speak for themselves: six Southwest Conference Coach of the Year awards (1978, 1982, 1983, 1987, 1989, 1990) and one Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year award in 1999. His influence stretched far beyond Fayetteville, earning him legendary status across college baseball as a whole.

Now, that legacy receives one of its highest honors.

Norm DeBriyn will be inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the 2025 class on Thursday, Feb. 12, a moment that cements his place among the game’s immortals. For Arkansas, it’s more than a ceremony; it’s a celebration of a man who laid the foundation for everything the program has become.

Arguably one of the greatest college baseball coaches of all time, Norm DeBriyn’s résumé makes the case on its own. But for Arkansas fans, his legacy has always been about more than numbers. It’s about pride, tradition, and a standard that still guides the Razorbacks today.

A reminder of where Arkansas baseball came from, who built it, and why legends like Norm DeBriyn deserve to be honored, remembered, and celebrated, now and forever.
