The most exciting contest this week is already being touted as the game of the year. Juggernauts Georgia and Alabama duked it out in Tuscaloosa in a top-five matchup, giving the Tide its first test with the legend Nick Saben. They passed with flying colors and upended the SEC Power Rankings.

Although Saben wouldn't have been too happy nearly giving up the game late, Alabama probably made him proud, dominating Georgia the way it did in the first half. The Tide showed college football just because they have a new coach doesn't mean the Alabama brand doesn't deserve respect. So, that's exactly what's happening with this week's power rankings.

Alabama moves up to No. 2 in the rankings, displacing Georgia, which falls to No. 3. The Bulldogs aren't a bad team, though. Are they as good as the 2021 and 2022 teams? Maybe not, but Georgia was one amazing play from winning at Alabama after falling behind by 23 points. They still have a shot at the SEC and a national championship, so they didn't drop far.

On the other hand, Ole Miss had an awakening of the rudest nature broadcasted for the entire nation to see. The Rebels have been stuffing themselves with cupcakes since week one. For some reason, they had college football fooled into thinking they were fit enough to take on real competition. When they faced Kentucky, their offense imploded, along with their dreams of winning the SEC championship.

The last big drop is the Razorbacks. Arkansas can't seem to get out of its own way. Only a few plays stand between their 3-2 record and being undefeated. However, this appears to be a theme with the Hogs. Until they can play a clean game, they're stuck at the bottom of the rankings.
