This is the first season with Texas and Oklahoma in the SEC, and Texas is already annoying. The Longhorns are acting like they're big dogs in the SEC without taking a snap.
In a recent interview, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was asked about the move to the SEC. Arrogantly, a reporter started one of the questions by saying, "You're gonna be everyone's big game just because you're Texas."
Let's make something clear. "Texas" means nothing to SEC teams when they have to deal with Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and LSU every season. Texas is just another name on the schedule.
Sure, the Longhorns went to the College Football Playoffs, but so did Alabama. And a 4-8 Arkansas team nearly knocked them off in Tuscaloosa. The quicker Texas learns that 4-8 teams in the SEC are a heck of a lot different than 4-8 in the Big 12, the better.
And remember, it was just a few years ago when the video below happened. This writer remembers hearing the same arrogant diction then.
Ewers responded by echoing the sentiment but with a much more respectful tone. "I've always wanted to play in the SEC, so I know we're all excited to be a part of a conference like this," said Ewers. "But like you said, we're everybody's biggest game. We understand that."
When it comes to Ewers, he at least comes off like Georgia players when Kirby Smart told them everyone was counting them out. If that's what you have to tell yourself to keep a chip on your shoulder, by all means, keep doing it. But watching reports and fans say something repeatedly to that effect is already getting old.
