The Texas Sports Hall of Fame announced the 2024 Southwest Conference Hall of Fame in inductees. Arkansas basketball legend Oliver Miller was one of those selected.
Miller joins ten other Razorback basketball greats in earning the honor. Sidney Moncrief, Nolan Richardson, Eddie Sutton, Rodd Day, Joe Kleine, Lee Mayberry, Rob Brewer, Darrell Walker, and Marvin Delph were all selected in the last ten years. He is the 63rd Hog across all sports to be inducted.
He played for Arkansas between 1989 and 1992 and was a member of the last Razorback basketball team to play under the SWC logo. Miller Holds the records for field goal percentage, knocking down 63.6 percent of his shots and blocked shots with a staggering 345 denials. He also ranks top-10 in rebounds (886) and points (1,674).
The big man went on to play in the NBA and was selected in the first round by the Phoenix Suns. He played for six teams between 1992 and 2004, hitting 53.4 percent from the field for 7.4 points and 5.9 boards a game.
The 2024 Hall of Fame will include eight more SWC athletes. Alfred Anderson (Baylor), Jason Phillips (Houston), Claudia Haywood Minor (Rice), John Ross (SMU), Sherri Steinhauer (Texas), Tony Franklin (Texas A&M), Janice Dziuk (TCU), and Brad Hastings (Texas Tech) will officially be inducted with Miller during the Ceremony and Luncheon held at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco, Texas, on August 13.
