Arkansas social media team trolls Colorado, Shedeur Sanders
There’s a part of Arkansas’s athletic department that steals the spotlight every so often without even taking the field. The Razorbacks social media team does an excellent job filling in the gaps between games, and they’re also one of the best trolls in the business.
Everyone remembers how viral their post-game tweets went after clobbering Texas 40-21 in 2021. That season was the first time in nearly a decade that the Hogs played well, and the social media team let the world know all season long. However, the best time to “troll” is in the preseason. There aren’t collegiate sports in season, and fans are scouring the internet for football content. The Hogs’ social media team has done an amazing job bringing fall camp to the fans through clips and pictures of the practices. However, on Wednesday, they decided to have a little more fun.
Colorado has been the darlings of the national media since Deion Sanders accepted the head coaching job. On Tuesday, the Buffs’ social media team did what all others do and posted a great play by Shedeur Sanders. Except, for whatever reason, they edited it to show another point of view at the end of the clip. The edit made it look like the social media team was trying to manufacture a highlight, all while using the caption “Darts Only”.
To be fair, it is the same play. The edit ends with Sanders throwing to an empty space on the sideline. Still, the original shows the receiver popping into view from behind the offensive line milliseconds after it was clipped. But it was already too late.
The post filled with quotes and comments poking fun at Colorado. They were the butt of a joke for hours until the Razorbacks posted their own “Darts only” clip in jest. The post went viral, gaining over 12,000 likes in less than three hours.
Most of the Colorado *cough* Deion *cough* fans in the mentions were incredibly upset at a harmless joke, accusing Arkansas of being obsessed with them because they take themselves too seriously. The Buffalos finished with the same record as the Razorbacks but think they'll make the playoffs this year. That’s UCF claiming a national championship in 2017 levels of delusion.
On the other hand, not all Colorado fans feel the same way. Deion Sanders Jr. took to X and wrote how funny it was and that he’d make the clip even more dramatic. “That’s actually pretty funny. That’s some good stuff right there,” said Sanders. He replied to a comment expressing how good Arkansas’s social media is, saying, “They do. That’s what they’re supposed to do & that’s why I actually like it. I would have made it waaayyy [sic] more dramatic though… but I’m childish too.”
The best way for this story to end is for Arkansas and Colorado to reach bowl eligibility and play against each other. It'd be a good storyline and put the spotlight on the Hogs for a few hours. Plus, we could finally see who has the better chops, Coach Sanders or Coach T-Will.
