524. Final. 4. 468. Arkansas vs Texas Tech game 2. 5

Arkansas outlasted Texas Tech for the second straight day after storming back down by seven last night. With the victory, the Diamond Hogs stay perfect in midweek games this season and extend their home winning streak to an outstanding 25 games.

Peyton Stovall started the game with a bang — or a crack (of the bat) if you will. On the third pitch of his first at-bat, Stovall smacked one out of the park to put the Hogs up one early. What better way to keep the momentum going this afternoon than a first-inning leadoff home run? Well, how about back-to-back leadoff homers?

The hero of last night's game, Nolan Souza, hit another in the second inning, moving the Hogs back in front of the Red Raiders. Arkansas went back and forth the rest of the game, only gaining a lead by more than two runs in the eighth after a hit batter led to an RBI.

It wasn't only at the plate where Stovall shined this afternoon. He also made some incredible plays at second base. He was the only player on the field to record an error, but his efforts, like this diving catch below, stole the show and kept Tech from making late-game moves to take the lead.

The performance from the mound was good for a midweek game. Their combined stat line was three earned runs on six hits and four walks with six strikeouts. Most of the hits and runs came under lefty Colin Fisher's watch, but as a freshman starter, five hits, one walk, two earned runs, and a strikeout in four innings isn't a bad stat line.

Stone Hewlett was the only other pitcher to give up a run, but when you throw pitches as filthy as this to end the game, who cares about one run?

Now, Arkansas can look toward this weekend's series. The team will travel east to take on No. 20 South Carolina. The Gamecocks are 8-7 in conference play and are 2-3 in SEC series. With the game in Columbia, South Carolina is looking for every opportunity for a win, and an Arkansas series 'W' would be a nice trophy going into the postseason.
