True: Malachi Singleton throws for at least one touchdown
Taylen Green is the starting quarterback for Arkansas. That became evident from the moment he stepped on campus. However, his backup, Malachi Singleton, has separated himself from the others and is the clear second option for the Hogs.
When asked about the redshirt freshman, Petrino said:
""Malachi is doing a great job. He’s got really, really good knowledge. He delivers the ball on time, and he’s accurate with it. I don’t think we’ll ever know how good Malachi is until they have to tackle him...
He picks things up quickly. One of the things you want as a coach is to try where it works out where you only have to tell a kid one time, and then they get it. Malachi’s that guy.""
As you can see, he's not your average backup. He should do well against UAPB for his first major action in a Razorback uniform. In fact, the only reason he doesn't throw for more than one touchdown is Arkansas will probably pull him to let KJ Jackson have a turn sometime in the second half.
False: Arkansas won't score in the second half, just like in 2021
The last time UAPB and Arkansas met, the Lions' defense held strong in the second half. At the time, the Razorbacks lacked quality depth, and to some extent, they still do. However, the areas in question shouldn't affect Arkansas's ability to score as much.
The QB situation is much better than in 2021, with Malik Hornsby backing up KJ Jefferson. There's also the depth at wide receiver. The Hogs could legitimately have two/three deep talent at each pass-catching position, including tight end. The one concerning position is the offensive line. Arkansas could end up playing the starting five longer than they prefer. Either way, the offense shouldn't slow down much in the second half.
