The brightest part of this season's Arkansas baseball team is getting brighter. Over the last few days, Hagan Smith has earned multiple national accolades.
On Monday, the official Razorback strikeout king was notified that he is a Golden Spikes finalist along with Travis Bazzana from Oregon State and Charlie Condon from Georgia. Much like the Heisman Trophy in college football, the award is given to the best college baseball player in the country. He would be the third recipient of the Golden Spikes in Arkansas history, joining Andrew Benintendi and Kevin Kopps.
Also, he earned Perfect Game USA’s Pitcher of the Year and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-American First-Team honors, becoming the sixth two-time All-American in Arkansas history. Smith finished the season with a 9-2 record, an ERA of 2.02, and an Arkansas record of 161 strikeouts.
The Golden Spikes Award show will be on ESPN at 7:00 P.M., June 22.
