Razorback softball had a heartbreaking regional and Fayetteville last weekend. Arkansas lost to Villanova on Sunday, 7-2, and was eliminated from the NCAA Women's College World Series.

After finding much success this season, Arkansas had a troublesome last three weeks. The Hogs lost their final regular season series to last-placed Ole Miss in Fayetteville. During the SEC tournament the following week, Arkansas lost its first game to a Missouri team on its way to the championship game.

Both weekends were filled with bad weather and games going into extra innings, causing one delay after another. However, the Fayetteville Regional had none of those.  Arkansas just didn’t play well.

The Razorbacks escaped their first game against Southeast Missouri, 3-2, after beating them earlier in the season by a combined 11-2 score. Arkansas then lost to Arizona, whom Arkansas split a two-game series with. The Hogs were forced into an elimination game with Villanova and fell to the Wildcats.

Arkansas was the only SEC team to lose its regional as a national seed and was one of the six SEC teams not moving on to the super-regional round.
