Over three weeks after the final game of the season, the shots keep coming for Arkansas Baseball.
USA Today released its final coaches poll yesterday, and the Hogs dropped outside the top-10, placing the final punctuation on a disappointing baseball season. The Razorbacks final record doesn’t reflect that sentiment, finishing 44-16, but Arkansas lost ten of its final 14 games. Those losses include a 0-2 performance in the SEC Tournament and 1-2 in the Fayetteville Regional.
Arkansas finished No. 12 in the coaches poll but held the top spot for weeks in the middle of the season.
The SEC packed the top of the final poll with Tennessee — who just won the College World Series — at No. 1, Texas A&M at No. 2, and Kentucky at No. 3. Florida and Georgia round out the top-10, with the next highest-ranked team coming in at No. 20 with Mississippi State and then LSU at No. 24.
The late-season implosion is becoming a trend, with Arkansas finishing outside the top-10 for the second consecutive year. Last season, Arkansas dropped their regional to TCU in the same fashion.
