The Arkansas Razorbacks sent their seniors out the right way with a statement victory, defeating the Texas Longhorns 105–85 in dominant fashion. Leading the charge once again was freshman star guard Darius Acuff Jr., who delivered another outstanding performance with 28 points, 3 rebounds, and 13 assists while shooting 8-of-15 from the field and 4-of-6 from three-point range.
For Arkansas fans, nights like this are becoming routine.
Darius Acuff Jr. Gets High-Level Praise From Texas Head Coach Sean Miller
Acuff has been consistently spectacular all season, playing well beyond his freshman status and establishing himself as one of the most dynamic guards in college basketball. But while Razorback supporters and teammates may have grown accustomed to these performances, opposing teams are often left stunned.
That was certainly the case for Texas head coach Sean Miller, whose postgame comments may have delivered the strongest praise yet for the Arkansas standout.
“In my time of 34 years, I’ve never seen a point guard better,” Miller said after the game. “He’s a generational player. This No. 1 pick thing, I don’t know why people aren’t talking about him more. I can’t imagine anybody better.”

For Miller to make such a statement speaks not only to Acuff’s talent but also to the impact he had on the game. While Arkansas fans have watched this level of play all season, it’s still eye-opening to hear such high praise from an opposing coach with that kind of résumé.
In many ways, Miller’s comments reflect a broader reality: despite the incredible freshman season Acuff is having, he hasn’t always been placed in the same national conversation as some of the other top young stars.
Much of the spotlight has been focused on players like Cameron Boozer, AJ Dybantsa, and Darryn Peterson. All three are phenomenal talents and widely projected as future NBA stars.
But Acuff’s production and impact demand that his name be mentioned alongside them.
Whether it’s the race for National Player of the Year or discussions about the future No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft, the Arkansas freshman has made a compelling case to be included in those conversations.
Perhaps most impressive is how much Acuff has already developed since arriving from high school. Many scouts noted areas of his game that would need refinement at the college level, but throughout this season he has steadily silenced many of those concerns.
That doesn’t mean he’s a perfect prospect, no player is. But when evaluating the top talents in the country, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find major flaws in his game. Like any young star, there are areas to continue improving, but the same can be said for every other elite prospect in his class.
What stands out most about Acuff is his composure. He rarely appears rattled, never seems distracted by outside noise, and simply continues to perform at a high level night after night.
And if this season has proven anything, it’s that he doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.
As Arkansas prepares for the upcoming SEC Tournament and the chaos of March Madness, the Razorbacks will once again lean on their freshman star, the same way they have all season.
If performances like this continue, the rest of the college basketball world may soon start echoing what Sean Miller already said.
Because the more people watch Darius Acuff Jr. play, the harder it becomes to ignore just how special he truly is.
