This is exactly how you make a late splash. In case you missed it, 5-star power forward Miikka Muurienen has given John Calipari and Arkansas the news they were hoping for, committing to the Razorbacks over North Carolina, LSU, Kentucky and others.

This is no question a major get for the Razorbacks, as Muurinen is expected to make an immediate impact for Coach Cal next season. Oh, and it also gives the SEC powerhouse the No. 1 2026 class in the country. Wait, what? That's right, with Muurinen now on board, Arkansas has jumped Duke for the top spot in the 247Sports team composite rankings. This makes things even better for the Razorbacks and it's surely something Jon Scheyer didn't want to see happen.

Arkansas now has the No. 1 class in the country with Miikka Muurinen on board

Muurinen had plenty of schools after him, but it really felt like Arkansas was always going to be tough to beat. There was worry that after North Carolina hired Michael Malone to take over for the fired Hubert Davis, Muurinen would potentially sign with the Tar Heels, as his mom played two seasons for the ACC side.

However, Calipari never stopped making a strong push for the Finnish playmaker, leading to this major breaking news coming in. Once Muurinen gets to campus, he has one goal in mind too: to help Calipari and Arkansas win a national title. This is something fans sure hope ends up happening.

With the addition of Muurinen for the '26 haul. Arkansas' class features him, JJ Andrews, Abdou Toure and Jordan Smith Jr., plus transfers Jeremiah Wilkinson and Cooper Bowser. Things are looking STACKED for Calipari and his staff, no doubt.

With Muurinen's pro experience already, it will serve as a major help too as he gets ready to begin his college career. There are going to be incredibly high expectations for him moving forward, but who better to develop him than Calipari? This feels like a perfect match for Arkansas and the youngster. And again, things have only been made better with the Hogs taking over the top recruiting class spot in the nation.
