The influence of John Calipari has long been felt across the basketball world, particularly in the NBA. Now, in his second season leading the Arkansas Razorbacks, that influence appears to be expanding in an unexpected way, through sneaker culture at the highest level of the sport.

Over the past two nights, two NBA superstars have been spotted wearing custom sneakers featuring Arkansas Razorbacks colors and branding, putting the program in the national spotlight far beyond the college basketball landscape.

NBA Stars Show Love to Arkansas with Razorbacks-Themed Sneakers

The first came from Devin Booker, the All-Star guard for the Phoenix Suns. Booker hit the court wearing a Razorback-themed version of his signature shoe, complete with Arkansas’ signature red look.

Not long after, another superstar followed suit.

Kevin Durant stepped onto the floor rocking Arkansas-inspired sneakers of his own, further amplifying the Razorbacks’ presence on the NBA stage.

What makes the moment particularly interesting is the college history behind both players. Booker played for Kentucky Wildcats under Calipari, making his Razorbacks-themed kicks a fun nod and tribute to the coach who helped launch his path to the NBA.

Durant’s connection is far less direct.

The former MVP starred for the Texas Longhorns, a program that now shares conference rivalry status with Arkansas in the SEC. Despite no formal ties to the Razorbacks or Calipari, Durant sporting Arkansas colors has sparked conversation among fans.

Maybe he simply appreciates what Calipari is building in Fayetteville. Or maybe, if Durant could go back in time, he might consider a different college path under the Hall of Fame coach.

On the court, the two stars had very different nights while representing Razorback red.

Durant and the Rockets fell to the San Antonio Spurs, with the veteran forward finishing with 23 points in the loss. Booker, meanwhile, delivered a much stronger showing, leading Phoenix to a tight victory over the New Orleans Pelicans with a standout performance.

For Booker, the Arkansas-themed kicks may prove to be a good luck charm worth wearing again.

Durant, on the other hand, may be hoping the Razorback colorway isn’t bad luck as he looks to bounce back in the Rockets' next outing.

Regardless of the results, the moment is another example of the expanding reach of the Arkansas basketball brand under Calipari. His reputation for producing NBA talent already gives the Razorbacks credibility with players across the league, and seeing two global stars representing the program, even indirectly, only increases that exposure.

For Arkansas fans, it’s another sign that the program’s national profile is growing. With the Razorbacks building momentum and expectations rising in Fayetteville, the fan base is beginning to believe a major championship run could be on the horizon.

If the Razorbacks keep winning, and the NBA’s biggest names keep rocking Arkansas red, that buzz will only continue to grow.
