RHP Gage Wood tossed a no-hitter to lead No. 3 Arkansas (49-14, 20-10 SEC) to a huge 3-0 win over the Murray State Racers (44-17, 17-8 OVC) in an elimination game on Monday afternoon at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb. Arkansas struck first in the top of the third inning with 1B Reese Robinett leading off with a double and CF Justin Thomas Jr. legging out an infield single to put runners on the corners. CF Charles Davalan looped an RBI single to left field to score Robinett and give the Hogs a 1-0 lead. Davalan stole second base to place runners in scoring position, but SS Wehiwa Aloy lined out to short and RF Logan Maxwell popped out to second. C Ryder Helfrick struck out swinging to prevent a bigger rally.

All was quiet offensively for the Hogs until the top of the seventh when Thomas and Davalan strung together back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners. Wehiwa Aloy roped an RBI double down the left field line to cash in Thomas while Davalan moved up to third. Maxwell reached on an error in right field that allowed Davalan to score to lengthen the lead, 3-0. Helfrick dropped down a sacrifice bunt to put both runners in scoring position but 2B Camden Kozeal struck out looking on a full count. DH Kuhio Aloy lined out to right to end the rally.

Wood took a perfect game bid into the bottom of the eighth when he hit Dom Decker with a pitch on his back foot to open up the bottom of the eighth. It was the only baserunner he allowed as he struck out a program record 19 batters on 119 pitches (83 strikes). His 19 strikeouts broke the record previously held by LHP Hagen Smith (2024) and RHP Jess Todd (2007), who both carved up 17. Wood’s no-hitter is the 11th solo no-hitter in Razorbacks history and just the third in College World Series history.

The Razorbacks will take on the loser of the 1-0 game between the No. 6 LSU Tigers and the No. 15 UCLA Bruins. The 1-1 game will be played at 6 p.m. at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
