Gabe Gaeckle named Preseason SEC Pitcher of the Year

Arkansas sophomore RHP Gabe Gaeckle was named the preseason Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Year by Baseball America.

Gaeckle posted a 3-3 record with a 2.32 ERA across 42.2 innings while carving up 57 batters in 22 relief appearances. The Aptos, Calif. native recorded a team-high seven saves, becoming the fifth Arkansas freshman pitcher since 2003 to record five or more saves in a season.

Gaeckle did not have any experience coming out of the bullpen during his time at Aptos High School. His excellent performance as a reliever earned him All-SEC Freshman Team honors along with the opportunity to be the Hogs’ ace this year.

The Razorbacks open up the 2025 season against the Washington State Cougars on Friday, Feb. 14 in Baum-Walker Stadium.
