Sadly, the culmination of the NFL season didn't include a single former Razorback, but that didn't stop them from being a part of the Super Bowl's coverage. Former Browns quarterback and one of the most hilarious characters in football, Jameis Winston, had an impromptu interview with former Razorback and current Detriot Lions lineman Dan Skipper.
Winston gained a role reporting the big game for Fox Sports, and while touring downtown New Orleans near the Audubon Aquarium on the Mississippi River, he was struck by the sight of a 'Super Yacht' docked nearby. He proceeded to ask anyone and everyone if they had access to the boat. That's when he met Skipper.
"I don't talk about a lot of people, but this is somebody's left tackle," Winston said while strolling down the famous riverside promenade, the Moon Walk. When he finally met Skipper, he asked, "You are somebody's left tackle, aren't you?"
Skipper humbly responded with a smile on his face, "I play in Detroit."
"You play in Detroit right now?" asked Winston. "Are you Nate Soldier?" — who's been retired since the 2021-2022 season. When Skipper finally told Winston who he was, the newly commissioned Fox contributor was elated to find out he was indeed 'somebody's left tackle'. Which, with Skipper being 6-foot-10-inches tall and 320 pounds walking around New Orleans before the Super Bowl, wasn't a hard guess.
When Winston tried to get Skipper to join his scheme to land a ride on the yacht, the former Hogs stuttered for a couple of seconds and said, "Good luck."
Winston responded, "One thing about offensive linemen, guys, is that they don't talk much, but they dominate the trenches." He then asked Skipper where he should sign his next NFL contract, to which Skipper said, "Whoever pays you the most money, so you can get a boat like that," while pointing at the yacht.
Winston also ran into the 2023 Heisman runner-up and current Atlanta Falcons QB, Michael Penix Jr, in his quest to gain access to the yacht. But alas, he couldn't help Winston either. Unfortunately, the man who undoubtedly had the most fun at the Super Bowl had to walk away without a ride.
