Diamond Hogs rise in D1Baseball top-25 rankings

Arkansas swept Charlotte this weekend, but that's not the reason the Dimond Hogs move up in the D1Baseball top-25. Instead, they can thank Texas A&M for that.

After taking care of business against Charlotte this weekend, Arkansas baseball has moved to No. 3 in D1Baseball's top 25 rankings. While the Hogs might love to take sole credit for the upward movement, Arkansas's rise is mainly due to Texas A&M's disastrous stretch.

The Hogs' weekend series against Charlotte was hard fought, with the 49ers giving Arkansas's bullpen its biggest test of the season. Somehow, the Razorbacks managed to come out of the weekend unscathed and swept Charlotte. As nice as it was to see the Hogs fight through adversity this early in the season and finish with a series win, nothing about those games would've pushed Arkansas up a spot.

Texas A&M freefalls in D1Baseball's top-25

The Aggies have lost four of their last five games, starting with a 3-2 loss to Cal Poly. Then A&M took it on the chin against an instate rival, Texas State. The Bobcats even went viral in their 7-3 victory for the late-game theatrics from their closer Alex Valentin.

Their weekend series wasn't kind to them either, as the Aggies finished 1-2 in the Astros Foundation College Classic. Although not as embarrassing, Arizona and Oklahoma State also got the better of Texas A&M. Finally, the Aggies redeemed themselves with a Sunday win over Rice.

The five-game stretch caused them to freefall from No. 1 to No. 14 this week, the most movement of from any team. A&M's fall allowed for other SEC schools like LSU, Tennessee, and Arkansas to move up in the standing, ranking 1-3, respectively.

Five SEC teams grace the top 10, while 11 made the top 25 altogether. Mississippi State was the lone conference to lose its ranking. However, the league did add two new additions, with Auburn and Alabama joining. Coastal Carolina and Oklahoma State were also added to the top 25 this week.
