The first day of the 2025 MLB draft finished up on Sunday, and before the night was over, Arkansas baseball made history. For the first time, the Razorbacks had more than one player selected in the first round, with a whopping four Hogs picked.
Arkansas baseball breaks record with four 2025 MLB draft first-round selections
Gage Wood, Wehiwa Aloy, Zach Root, and Charles Dalvalan all heard their names called in the opening round. The first Razorback off the board was Wood. The Philadelphia Phillies picked the right-handed pitcher 26th overall.
After hearing a record amount of shortstops called before him, the Golden Spikes award winner Aloy went 31st overall, joining Heston Kjerstad with the Baltimore Orioles.
The final two Arkansas first-round picks came as a little bit of a surprise, especially the last one. The LA Dodgers received back-to-back picks in the bonus rounds, following the official first round of the MLB draft but before the start of the official second round. They use the 40th and 41st picks to select Root and Davalan, respectively. Arkansas' four selections was tied for first in the country.
