Arkansas football takes another massive hit, losing to Memphis 32-31.

The Hogs' Jekyll and Hyde performance in the first half took a turn for the worse in the second. After a 3-and-out to start the third quarter, Memphis held Arkansas to a field goal for the entire second half. The offense has made its living on third down, but Arkansas went 3-11 today, with all three coming in the second half.

On the other side of the ball, the defense—which is the personification of a wet paper sack—gave up 12 unanswered points. After holding Ole Miss' rushing attack last Saturday, the Hogs gave up 290 yards, including 154 in the second half.

The worst part of this horror show wasn't the inept defensive play calling or the anemic second-half offensive performance, but the way it ended.

Arkansas had a chance to make it interesting, but the Hogs fumbled away their opportunity in the last two minutes for the second game in a row. Within the 10-yard line, Mike Washington, who had been electric on the drive, dove for the first down marker. Unfortunately, a Memphis defender made a great play to punch out the ball milliseconds before Washington's elbow hit the ground.

It's absolutely gut-wrenching to lose twice in a row. However, doing it right before Arkansas plays Notre Dame has completely taken the wind out of the Razorbacks' sails.

The Irish will head to Fayetteville for the first time in history after falling on hard times themselves. Notre Dame lost hard-fought battles against Miami to open the season and Texas A&M in their second game.
