Arkansas freshman guard Darius Acuff Jr. continues to add to what is already shaping up to be one of the most impressive seasons in recent college basketball memory. As the season goes on, Acuff keeps rising to the ocassion and elevating his game to new heights.
Arkansas Guard Darius Acuff Enters Rare Air with Historic All-Around Season
With his latest performances, Acuff has become just the 28th player in Division I men’s history to record 700+ points, 200+ assists, and 100+ rebounds in a single season. The last player to reach that statistical milestone was Ja Morant during the 2018–19 season at Murray State.
That alone places Acuff in elite company.

Morant’s season at Murray State was legendary. He was widely viewed as a do-it-all guard capable of flirting with a triple-double on any given night, eventually becoming the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, selected behind Zion Williamson.
Now, Acuff has etched his name alongside that kind of company.
Despite the historic production, the conversation around Acuff has been different.
While Morant was widely praised for his all-around impact during his college career, Acuff is often labeled primarily as a scorer and playmaker. Those elements of his game are undeniable, but the numbers show something more.
His rebounding, especially for a 6-foot-3 guard, has quietly become one of the most overlooked aspects of his season.
Guards at his size are rarely expected to crash the glass the way bigger wings or forwards do. Yet Acuff’s ability to track long rebounds, fight through traffic, and start the break himself has helped push him into one of the most exclusive statistical clubs in the sport.
Even if he may not pile up triple-doubles the way Morant occasionally did, the numbers clearly show that Acuff impacts the game in multiple ways every night.
Production Against Elite Competition
Another layer that makes Acuff’s accomplishment stand out is the level of competition.
Morant dominated during his time in the Ohio Valley Conference with Murray State. That shouldn’t diminish his historic season, but it’s fair to note the difference in environment.
Acuff is producing these numbers in the SEC, widely considered one of the toughest conferences in college basketball. Night after night he faces NBA-level athletes, elite defensive schemes, and hostile road environments.
Yet the production continues.
And with games still left on the schedule, there is still time for Acuff to climb even higher in each statistical category.
Acuff’s season is quickly becoming a résumé builder for the next stage of his career.
As the 2026 NBA Draft approaches, his performances continue to answer questions scouts may have had earlier in the season. Each big game chips away at the doubts surrounding his size, role projection, or defensive versatility.
If he continues stacking performances like this, evaluators may soon find themselves running out of reasons not to consider him at the very top of the draft board.
And if that happens, Acuff could go one step further than Morant did, turning a historic college season into a legitimate case to become the No. 1 overall pick in 2026.
A season full of “wow” moments has just added another.
And the numbers say it clearly: Darius Acuff Jr. is putting together something special.
