Yesterday, ESPN announced that the sports giant was growing even larger with the acquisition of the NFL Network, including rights to its fan-favorite RedZone.
NFL RedZone is a live broadcast that airs during Sunday afternoon games, offering nonstop coverage of every matchup and every touchdown as they happen. Now, that same type of football coverage may be coming to Arkansas fans, and all college sports fans, too.
Will RedZone coverage come to college football?
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke with ESPN's SportsCenter about the details of the partnership, including how RedZone will be integrated. When SportsCenter anchor Hannah Stone asked about potential changes to the popular program, Goodell offered a response that should excite college sports fans everywhere.
"ESPN purchased the RedZone name, and they'll be able to utilize that for other sports—College football and other things. ... But as far as NFL RedZone, there won't be any changes for our fans," said Goodell.

Just regarding the SEC, up to eight games are played every Saturday between 11:00 AM and 7:30 PM Central Time. It's nearly impossible to keep up with just one conference, let alone the other three Power Four conferences. However, a College Football RedZone could change all of that. No more flipping from channel to channel. Gone would be the days of multiple TVs, all split-screened to watch every game you want.
Imagine, for a second, the possibilities this could unlock for baseball and basketball. Keeping up with the NCAA Tournament often feels like a second job, but with a RedZone-like feature, staying updated will be much easier. But before getting too excited, the NFL owners still need to approve the deal, and it must also pass all government regulations before becoming official.
