Arkansas basketball is gearing up for its fall preview, 'Primetime at the Palace' on Friday, Oct. 3, at 8:00 PM in Bud Walton Arena. At the same time, Arkansas football is waist-deep in a coaching search after relieving Sam Pittman of his head coaching duties on Sunday.
However, according to a recent report, John Calipari and the Hardwood Hogs may not be the only 'Primetime' coming to Fayetteville.
Deion Sanders connected with open Arkansas job
Colorado's head coach, Deion Sanders, has been linked to the Arkansas job, per Peter Nakos at On3 Sports. Known as 'Primetime' throughout his multi-sport career, Sanders is 42-21 as a head coach, dating back to his three-year stint at FCS Jackson State. However, in his 2-plus seasons at Colorado, he's recorded a 15-15 record.
Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek mentioned being a "proven winner" as one of the criteria for Arkansas' next head coach. So, on that front, Sanders doesn't really fit the bill. However, Yurachek also mentioned the ability to use the Transfer Portal as another important aspect, for which Sanders has an excellent history.
In his first season with the Buffalo's, he brought with him the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. However, it has fallen off a tad (No. 8 in 2024, No. 19 in 2025).
This isn't the first time Sanders has been tied to the Arkansas job. After Yurachek fired Chad Morris, the former NFL star threw his hat in the ring, but Arkansas inevitably went with Pittman to lead the Razorbacks.

Now, with another opening on The Hill, the idea of Sanders joining Calipari in Fayetteville raises an amusing thought. If Coach Prime were to call the Hogs this time around, he and Cal might just have to wrestle over the rights to “Primetime.”
