Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green appears to be trending in the right direction following a scary moment late in the Razorbacks’ 38–35 loss to Mississippi State last weekend. Green was slow to get up after taking a hard sack in the game’s final minute, sparking concern from teammates and fans as trainers attended to him on the field.

Interim head coach Bobby Petrino provided a much-needed update on Wednesday during the SEC coaches teleconference, expressing optimism about Green’s availability for the Razorbacks’ upcoming matchup against LSU on November 15, following the team’s bye week.

"“Taylen practiced last night,” Petrino said. “He still has to do a good job this week of being in the training room and getting treatment and getting back to 100%, but I’m very encouraged that he will. Much more than I was after the game.”"

Petrino credited Green’s toughness, leadership, and growth as a key reason the Razorbacks have remained competitive despite a challenging 2–7 season.

"“He’s learning every week,” Petrino added. “He’s a great leader for our guys and someone we count on to set the tone for how we work.”"

Having Green under center means a lot to this Arkansas team, particularly with his leadership over the past two seasons. Despite the Razorbacks’ struggles, Green has continued to demonstrate poise, grit, and accountability in the face of adversity.

Perhaps most impressively, Green’s commitment to playing again this season, despite holding NFL aspirations, speaks volumes about his loyalty to his teammates and his desire to finish what he started in Fayetteville. Many players in his position might opt to sit out, focus on recovery, and prepare for the draft, but Green’s determination to return highlights the kind of competitor and leader he has become.

If his recovery continues as expected, Green’s return against LSU would provide a significant boost to an Arkansas offense that has shown flashes of potential but struggled with consistency. His dual-threat ability and steady command of the huddle have made him one of the bright spots in an otherwise turbulent season.

For now, optimism remains high in Fayetteville and Bobby Petrino believes that with a healthy Taylen Green back in action, the Razorbacks could close the year stronger than they started.
