There was simply going to be no way back for Hugh Freeze with Auburn. Even before Saturday's game vs. Arkansas football, countless Tigers fans had been calling for him to get fired, as the season has not gone according to plan for Freeze and Co. in 2025.

Then, the wheels ALMOST fell off against the Razorbacks. Bobby Petrino and his players nearly had Arkansas in a spot to pull off a thrilling win against Auburn. Auburn was on the verge of falling to 3-5 on the year and a disturbing 0-5 in conference play.

However, the Tigers defense stepped up in a HUGE way on Saturday on the road, with four consecutive turnovers making the difference in a 33-24 win at Arkansas. In the second half, it sure looked like the Razorbacks were going to pull this one off, but it wasn't meant to be for them.

Auburn fans are still not happy with Hugh Freeze despite the win over Arkansas

This is a win that Auburn needed, especially after being so close in recent weeks. You know what too, this was a win that Freeze desperately needed, as no one can argue with the fact that his seat has been red hot. Even former players are waiting for him to get canned.

However, it doesn't look like that news is going to come this weekend, as Freeze and his players made the plays needed late to avoid the road disaster. Three Taylen Green interceptions, including a pick-six, essentially put an Auburn win on a platter.

Freeze ended up benching Jackson Arnold too, as he himself tossed a pick-six and Ashton Daniels looked much more comfortable leading the offense. Can you imagine if Arkansas wouldn't have blown things in front of their home fans, though?

It no question would have put even more pressure on the Auburn administration to get a head start on a new HC search and fire Freeze. It's still a move that countless people are calling for and Arkansas winning today would have probably sent things over the line. Instead, Auburn indeed survived and Freeze might be the happiest person on the planet about it.
