The Battle of the Boot has annually been one of the best games on Arkansas's schedule. Since 2018, five of the six games between Arkansas and LSU were decided by seven points or less. However, the Razorbacks came out victorious only once in 2021.
With College Football Playoff implications on the line, the rivalry brings new energy to Fayetteville. The Tigers are on the fringe of earning a trip to the CFP, while the Razorbacks — as crazy as it sounds — might be looking to throw their name in the hat as well.
Razorbackers met up with Tyler Sakalys-Moore, the managing Editor of LSU Glory, to go behind enemy lines and gain insight on what LSU is bringing to Fayetteville on Saturday.
Q & A with Tyler Sakalys-Moore of LSU Glory
Q: The last time Arkansas faced Garrett Nussmeier in Death Valley, Cam Little hit the Griddy after a walk-off field goal. But a lot has changed since Nussmeier was a true freshman. Can you tell me about his development since the last time he faced Arkansas?
A: Well, for starters, for the first time in his LSU football career, Garrett Nussmeier is the full-time starter. In 2021 as a freshman, the physical traits were undoubtedly there, but what he lacked was an overall feel for the offense. As we find ourselves in 2024, Nuss not only has a firm grasp of the offense from top-to-bottom, but he now possesses the leadership, and mental fortitude to get punched in the mouth and stay focused on the task at hand: winning football games.
