Arkansas football's first casualty of the spring transfer window happened before the end of spring camp. True freshman athlete Quentin Murphy has hit the portal, according to CBS Sports college football reporter Matt Zenitz.

Quentin Murphy enters the transfer portal

A Parkview Magnet product, Murphy committed to the Razorbacks less than a year ago out of high school on June 1, 2024. He was recruited to play wide receiver, but through the spring, Murphy has dabbled on both sides of the ball. However, in high school, he played quarterback for the Patriots.

Murphy was a 3-star prospect per 247Sports composite. At 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, he ranked the No. 863 player in the nation, No. 48 athlete, and No. 7 in the Natural State. In the Razorback's 2025 class, he was the sixteenth-best-ranked commitment.

Before committing to Arkansas, the Little Rock native had a bevy of Division I offers, choosing the Hogs over schools like Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Georgia, Colorado, Alabama, Georgia Tech, and many more. Of the 16 schools that offered Murphy, only Arkansas received an official visit.

While it may seem unusual for a true freshman to hop in the portal as soon as it opens, Arkansas desperately needs support on the defensive side of the ball. And with the 85 scholarship limit reached, Sam Pittman and the coaching staff will need to make tough choices to make room for potential incoming transfers.
