Arkansas football continues to build serious momentum on the recruiting trail, and the Razorbacks may be closing in on a cornerstone piece for the future at quarterback. According to Rivals college football analyst and national recruiting writer Chad Simmons, 2027 signal-caller Jamison Roberts has trimmed his recruitment down to eight programs: Auburn, Oklahoma, Duke, Iowa, Ole Miss, Northwestern, Arkansas, and Kentucky.

For Arkansas, staying firmly in that mix is significant, and landing Roberts would be even bigger.

Jamison Roberts Has the Potential to Anchor Arkansas’ 2027 Class

Roberts is currently rated as a three-star prospect, but his trajectory suggests that ranking could rise as his recruitment continues to heat up. At 6’3, 200 pounds, Roberts checks the physical boxes while also bringing a dynamic dual-threat skill set that fits perfectly into the modern college game. He’s the type of quarterback who can stress defenses with both his arm and his legs, and that versatility is exactly what Arkansas head coach Ryan Silverfield is looking for since arriving in Fayetteville.

Silverfield has already made moves to stabilize and strengthen the quarterback room. He brought AJ Hill with him from Memphis and convinced former 2027 prospect Hank Hendrix to reclassify and arrive in Fayetteville a year early. But as Silverfield knows from his time at Memphis, elite programs don’t stop recruiting just because the room looks full: they pile up talent, create competition, and let development sort the rest out.

Jamison Roberts fits that philosophy to a tee.

Roberts spent his sophomore season learning behind Texas signee KJ Lacey before taking over one of Alabama’s top prep programs as a junior. The results were eye-opening. He led his team to a 13-1 record, showing poise, production, and leadership well beyond his years. Proven winner and his stock as a recruit is on the rise.

According to 247 sports director of scouting: "Roberts can be a bit unconventional mechanically, but it works. He generates easy torque with a quick, sometimes side-arm release and consistently rips tight spirals into windows over the middle of the field. In the option-read game, he’s downright dangerous, his acceleration and suddenness make defenders pay for hesitation, and that same athleticism allows him to escape sacks that most quarterbacks simply can’t." Roberts is a player with plenty of potential but much more room for development who needs more refinement.

His junior-year numbers underline just how special the season was:

  • 219 of 300 passing (73%)
  • 3,370 passing yards
  • 37 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions
  • 104 carries for 641 yards (6.2 YPC)
  • 21 rushing touchdowns

For Arkansas, landing Jamison Roberts would be a massive win. It would represent a major recruiting statement and a foundational piece for the 2027 class, which would technically be Ryan Silverfield’s first full recruiting class as head coach. More importantly, it would reinforce the idea that Arkansas is serious about stacking talent, developing quarterbacks, and building sustained success.

This is a recruitment Razorback Nation should keep a very close eye on. With Roberts’ upside, production, and fit in Silverfield’s vision, a commitment would be a huge addition, and another sign that Arkansas football is moving in the right direction
