John Calipari and Arkansas reveal full basketball roster ahead of preseason debut

John Calipari and the Arkansas Razorbacks have been the talk of the college basketball world since landing the country's No. 1 recruiting class, and now, they've officially given fans their first look at the 2026-27 roster.

Ahead of their preseason debut at the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League, Arkansas officially released its full 2026-27 roster, complete with every player's jersey number.

Altogether, the Hogs have 15 players currently on the roster -- four returning Razorbacks and 11 new faces. Nine of those players are freshmen, and only Billy Richmond III returns after playing significant minutes for the Hogs last season, making this one of the youngest and most dramatically overhauled rosters of Calipari's career.

Jersey numbers don't usually reveal much about a team, but there are two fairly noteworthy number decisions on this year's roster. The decision receiving the most flak from fans is Jeremiah Wilkinson's pairing with the No. 5, which was worn last season by SEC Player of the Year Darius Acuff Jr.

While it would be unprecedented to retire Acuff's jersey less than a year after a one-and-done season with the Hogs, the fact that Wilkinson is transferring in from another SEC school (Georgia) has caused some fans to take up arms against him wearing 5. That said, if he's able to replicate his team-leading 17.4 PPG from a season ago, then those criticisms will likely die down quickly.

On a more positive note, it's going to be very exciting to see Jordan Smith Jr. don No. 23 this year. The number is one of the most legendary numbers in basketball history, and with Jordan Smith Jr. coming in as the consensus No. 1 point guard in the country, his sights will likely be set as high as they can be.

The most obvious takeaway from this year's Arkansas roster is the sheer size of Calipari's squad. Six Razorbacks stand at least 6-foot-11 -- a far cry from last year's squad, which routinely struggled against talented big men. While Muurinen will likely start at the 4 spot, the center position remains up for grabs, with either Cooper Bowser or Caleb Ourigou projecting to be the team's starter right now.

Elsewhere, the Hogs will attempt to sort through one of the most talented backcourt-wing combos in Arkansas history. Jordan Smith Jr., Jeremiah Wilkinson, and Billy Richmond III project to be the team's starters at PG/SG/SF, but with Abdou Toure, JJ Andrews, and Davion Thompson (as well as Isaiah Sealy, presuming he recovers from knee surgery on the expected timeline) on the bench, there's no telling what the starting lineup will look like by March.

Arkansas will play four exhibition games in the Bahamas, beginning with the Bahamas National Team on July 31. The Hogs will then face defending Canadian national champion Carleton University, Colombian professional champion Toros del Valle, and the University of Calgary. Each game will be streamed on Flocollege.
