Arkansas football's 2026 recruiting class is becoming one for the ages, but not in a way to celebrate. In-state recruiting has been historically poor this season, with Sam Pittman & Co. on the verge of losing 10 of the top 11 Natural State prospects, but they've taken it even farther.
Arkansas football pulls offer from 4-star legacy prospect Chase Campbell
Tuesday afternoon, Michael Main of Best of Arkansas Sports reported—and Hawg Beat confirmed—that one of the best recruits left on the table for the 2026 class no longer "has a spot" on Arkansas' roster, all the while, it's letting its own blue-ship prospects flee the state.
That prospect is wide receiver Chase Campbell. Out of Wolfforth, Texas, Campbell is the No. 20 wideout in the class and a top-200 prospect, according to 247Sports Composite. He's rated as a .9397 4-star by the recruiting outlet and the No. 21 player in Texas.
At the time of this article, Arkansas has only three 4-star prospects committed, and none rank as high as Campbell. With roughly 6-7 more spots in this class with only a handful of 4-stars, one would think Arkansas couldn't afford to pull and offer. Unless Pittman has an ace up his sleeve, it's completely unthinkable that Arkansas would just drop his offer so suddenly.
However, what makes it so egregious isn't the fact that Campbell would be the highest-rated recruit of the class. He is a legacy prospect, tracing back to his maternal grandfather, Darrel Brown, who was the first Black man to play football at Arkansas. His mother, Deedee Brown-Campbell, and father, Marcus Campbell, were also athletes at the University of Arkansas.
Withdrawing an offer so early from someone who has little connection to Arkansas is one thing, but denying an opportunity to a player with a strong legacy is quite another. Even if the Razorbacks have a silent commitment, there is more than enough room for Campbell on the team. There's no other way to characterize it other than grossly incompetent.

With 23 commits, the Arkansas 2026 class currently ranks No. 21 in the country. However, based on the average score, the Hogs' 2026 class ranks No. 35.
