LSU football is set to lose a former five-star offensive lineman to the transfer portal. According to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett, freshman offensive lineman Carius Curne plans to enter the portal after just one season in Baton Rouge.

Curne arrived at LSU as a five-star recruit in the 2025 class and the No. 2-ranked interior offensive lineman in the country. Despite being a true freshman, he saw meaningful action for the Tigers during the 2025 season and worked his way into the starting lineup.

Why Carius Curne Is Entering the Transfer Portal

The decision comes amid significant change within the LSU program. With Lane Kiffin taking over as head coach, the Tigers are undergoing a complete offensive overhaul. LSU will feature an entirely new offensive staff in 2026, and with that level of turnover, roster movement is expected, particularly along the offensive line.

Curne did not play extensively over the first four weeks of the season, but he made the first start of his career in Week 5 against Ole Miss. From that point on, he became a regular fixture in the rotation up front. While the Tigers’ offensive line struggled as a unit, Curne showed flashes of why he was so highly regarded coming out of high school.

In 2025, Curne played 305 offensive snaps and made five starts. In pass protection, he allowed 11 pressures and three sacks across 198 pass-blocking snaps. He did not appear in LSU’s final regular-season game against Oklahoma.

Why Arkansas Could Be a Logical Landing Spot

Originally from Arkansas, Curne brings an impressive physical profile. He stands 6-foot-5, around 320 pounds, and showed college-ready size as early as his junior year of high school. A stout, two-way lineman, Curne garnered recruiting interest on both sides of the ball and logged snaps along both lines of scrimmage.

He displays strong movement ability, adequate length to remain at tackle or shift inside to guard, and carries multi-sport athleticism from his background in track and field throws. Long-term, evaluators believe his best fit is on the interior offensive line, where he could project as a high-major contributor with NFL Draft potential.

The Razorbacks are entering a rebuild under a new coaching staff, and that transition could present an appealing opportunity. A player like Curne, young, talented, and experienced at the SEC level, fits the profile of someone head coach Ryan Silverfield could sell on a new vision for the program and a chance to be a cornerstone in getting Razorback football back on the national map.

Arkansas needs talent across the board, and landing a former five-star offensive lineman with Curne’s upside would be a massive win for the program. While nothing is imminent, Curne’s name is one to watch closely as the transfer portal cycle begins.
