Arkansas has emerged as a program to watch in the recruitment of LSU defensive lineman Ahmad Breaux, who recently entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. According to Rivals, the Razorbacks are among multiple Southeastern Conference schools pursuing the former LSU Tiger as he explores his options with two years of eligibility remaining.

Ahmad Breaux: Louisiana High School Standout

Breaux arrived in Baton Rouge as one of Louisiana’s most coveted high school prospects in the 2024 recruiting cycle. A consensus Top-30 in-state recruit, the 6-foot-3, 275-pound defensive lineman wasted little time making an impact at LSU. As a true freshman in 2024, he earned meaningful snaps along the Tigers’ defensive front, finishing the season with 17 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. He also made two starts, drawing nods against UCLA and South Alabama.

During the 2025 season, Breaux continued to contribute in a deep and talented defensive line rotation that featured names such as Bernard Gooden, Dominick McKinley, and Jacobian Guillory. He recorded 19 tackles and 0.5 sacks while appearing in every game, gaining valuable experience despite limited opportunities to consistently showcase his full skill set.

In total, Breaux played in 24 games across two seasons at LSU. While his statistics may not jump off the page, context matters. LSU fielded one of the deepest and most talented defensive fronts in the country, making it difficult for younger players to carve out expanded roles. Development can be challenging in that type of environment, especially amid significant program turbulence.

With LSU undergoing major changes, including the departure of Brian Kelly and the arrival of Lane Kiffin, Breaux elected to wisely seek a fresh start in pursuit of getting a better vision and path for playing time. The transfer portal now provides that opportunity, allowing him to find a situation better suited for his growth and long-term potential.

Razorbacks Poised to Capitalize on LSU Roster Shakeup

Arkansas could be an ideal landing spot. The Razorbacks would gladly welcome a former top Louisiana recruit with size, experience, and untapped upside. Under defensive coordinator Ron Roberts, Breaux could be deployed creatively along the defensive front, where his versatility and physical tools could shine in a new system.

Although no visits have been scheduled yet, Breaux is expected to begin making rounds to several schools as the transfer window opens. With SEC programs circling, Arkansas’s involvement signals serious interest, and if the Razorbacks can secure his commitment, they may be landing a player whose best football is still ahead of him.
