It's the Hogs' final game of the season as they travel to Memphis to play Texas Tech in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. It's the fourth time since 2010 that Arkansas has played in the Liberty Bowl and the third time since 2014 it's faced the Red Raiders.
After a disappointing 6-6 season, there's little to be excited about playing a semi-common opponent in a regularly visited bowl game. And if history is any indication of how today's matchup plays out, it could be a long afternoon for Razorback fans.
The Red Raiders played back-to-back bowl games against the SEC in 2021 and 2022, beating Tech's old coach, Mike Leach, and Mississippi State 34-7 and defeating Ole Miss 42-25 in the Texas Bowl, respectively. Both finished the season disappointed, leading to massive wins for Tech.
Arkansas needs to find a way to generate excitement, and luckily, Sam Pittman does very well in that regard. The last time the Hogs played in the Liberty Bowl came after a disappointing 6-6 season, but Arkansas hit Kansas hard and fast to start the game. Hopefully, the fifth-year head coach can do the same today.
