Arkansas football has lost another incoming true freshman. This time, it was foreseeable.
Arkansas releases Jace Brown from scholarship agreement
2025 wide receiver Jace Brown was released from his scholarship agreement with the University not long after his high school teammate Madden Iamaleava transferred to UCLA following spring camp. Brown and Iamaleava both flipped their original commitment from UCLA to Arkansas on national signing day in December.
There hasn't been any indication of where the Long Beach Poly product is heading, but the odds are he follows Iamaleava back to Southern California to join the Bruins. In addition to Iamaleava and Brown, UCLA is also receiving Nico Iamaleava, the older brother of Madden, who started this whole charade in April after he was cut from the Tennessee Volunteers.
Brown was a .8786 3-star prospect out of high school, according to 247Sports Composite. The recruiting outlet ranked him the No. 684 player in the nation, the No. 101 wide receiver, and the No. 52 player in California.
Even with the loss, Arkansas is in a good position at WR. In addition to the unorthodox walk-on Monte Harrison, who is a scholarship-worthy player whose professional baseball earnings are paying for tuition, Arkansas has 12 scholarship wideouts currently in the locker room.
Brown is the third true freshman to renege on his agreement. The first was defensive back/WR, who entered before Iamaleava. Iamaleava was the second.
Since he never enrolled in school, his departure won't count toward the transfer portal, but instead, Arkansas' 2025 class as a decommitment. His is the eighth and final of the class.
