The first of the season's top 25 polls has just been released. USA Today published its preseason US LBM Coaches Poll on Monday, and while Arkansas football is excluded from the top 25, it did receive some votes. With 14 votes, the Razorbacks essentially tied with Navy for No. 42 in the initial poll.
Nine SEC teams made the cut, including Texas at the top of the poll. Georgia, Alabama, LSU, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Florida, Tennessee, and Texas A&M join the Longhorns.
Four more teams also received votes. Oklahoma (221), Missouri (142), and Auburn (50) all fall ahead of Arkansas. However, Vanderbilt barely makes the field with three votes.
Apart from the SEC, four more conferences are included. The Big Ten comes next behind the SEC with six schools in the top 25. However, Ohio State, Penn State, and Oregon all rank in the top 7. The Big 12 is next with five, then the ACC with three. The Mountain West is the only non-Power Four conference with a representative, as the Boise State Broncos bring up the rear. Finally, Notre Dame—which Arkansas plays this season—comes in at No. 5 as the only independent school.
Conflicting views emerge on Arkansas' locker room culture from past and present TEs.
