Forrest City running back Kevin Young has committed to Arkansas as a preferred walk-on, giving the Razorbacks a powerful in-state addition with something to prove. At 5-foot-11 and 220 pounds, Young brings a stout, compact frame built to absorb contact and deliver punishment between the tackles. But don’t let the size fool you, there’s plenty of explosiveness packed into that build.
Kevin Young: Underrated Walk-On RB
Young is coming off a monster senior campaign in which he rushed for over 2,000 yards and 29 touchdowns, cementing himself as one of the most productive backs in the state. He built off a strong junior season where he ran for 1,280 yards and 15 touchdowns on a blistering 9.01 yards per carry. He also flashed versatility in the passing game, hauling in 14 receptions for 76 yards and a score.

That production vaulted him up recruiting boards. According to 247Sports, Young is rated as a three-star prospect, the No. 56 running back nationally, and the No. 10 overall prospect in Arkansas for the 2026 cycle. Despite holding offers from programs like Kansas State, Missouri, and Vanderbilt, Young chose to stay home and represent the Natural State.
Speed is a major part of his game. A two-sport standout, Young has excelled in track and field as well. He qualified for the Arkansas 4A state meet in the 100 meters as a junior and posted an impressive 11.17 at regionals. He also qualified for regionals in the 200 meters, showcasing the burst that shows up on Friday nights in the fall.
That blend of power and speed makes him an intriguing addition to Arkansas’ backfield. As a preferred walk-on, Young will arrive in Fayetteville this summer with a chip on his shoulder. Lightly recruited compared to some national names, and perhaps not landing the offer list he hoped for, he’ll have every reason to prove he belongs in the SEC.
For Arkansas, this could end up being one of those under-the-radar additions that pays dividends down the line. Young’s production, physical tools, and competitive edge suggest the Razorbacks may have landed a star in the making, and one who’s ready to bring some serious juice to the program.
