When college football analysts start ranking environments in the SEC, it’s usually about the toughest places to play. But during a recent discussion on the YouTube show "Crain and Cone", college football analyst and former Michigan quarterback David Cone flipped the script, ranking what he believes are the easiest venues to play in the SEC.
And the team sitting at No. 1 probably won’t go over well in Fayetteville.
David Cone Labels Arkansas “Easiest Place to Play in the SEC"
According to Cone, the easiest place to play in the SEC right now is the home of the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Cone’s full top five looked like this:
- Arkansas Razorbacks
- Vanderbilt Commodores
- Auburn Tigers
- Mississippi State Bulldogs
- Kentucky Wildcats

Before Razorback fans push back too hard, there is some context to consider.
Arkansas is currently riding a 10-game SEC losing streak, and when analysts talk about the “easiest places to play,” they’re often referring to more than just crowd noise. It’s also a reflection of the product on the field.
When a team struggles to win conference games at home, or just in general, opponents walk into that stadium with a different level of confidence. In other words, Cone’s ranking isn’t necessarily an indictment of the fan base, it’s a commentary on recent results.
Lists like this are what coaches often call “poster board material.”
Print it out. Hang it up in the locker room. Put it on the bulletin board in the weight room.
Motivation in college football can come from anywhere, and public rankings that question a program’s home-field advantage can quickly become fuel.
If something like this doesn’t spark a fire inside the locker room, it’s hard to know what will.
A New Era in Fayetteville
There’s also an important factor to remember about the current state of the Razorbacks.
This is a new regime with a predominantly new roster. Many of the players who will take the field this season weren’t even part of the team during that SEC losing streak.
So is Cone’s ranking fair to this group?
Maybe not.
But in college football, fairness rarely matters. Perception does.
For the team, the challenge is clear: prove this isn’t the same old Arkansas. A new culture, new leadership, and new talent have the chance to flip the script.
For the fans, the message is just as simple: make Fayetteville a nightmare for opponents again. That means louder crowds, more energy, and the kind of environment that forces analysts to rethink lists like this one.
Because if Arkansas starts winning SEC games again at home, that “easiest place to play” label will disappear just as quickly as it arrived.
