Thursday, the Arkansas football program picked up a transfer who could pay dividends down the road. Trever Jackson, a former 4-star recruit who saw limited action for Florida State in 2024 has committed to Sam Pittman and his program, potentially solidifying the future of the QB spot in Fayetteville.
Arkansas lands Florida State transfer Trever Jackson
The 6-foot-3, 187-pound native of Winter Gardens, Florida fills a big hole in the Arkansas locker room. That's because the program just saw its presumed QB of the future, Madden Iamaleava, jump ship for UCLA (where his high-profile brother, Nico, has also transferred this offseason).
That left Pittman and Co. needing to find a player capable of competing for the QB2 role this year behind Taylen Green and eventually taking over the reins of the offense when Green's time as a Razorback is over. Jackson is a great solution to that problem.
In the class of 2024, he was the No. 26 quarterback in America and the No. 54 overall player in Florida according to 247Sports.com. He picked the Seminoles over offers from such programs as Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Illinois, Houston, Missouri, Penn State, Texas A&M, UCLA, West Virginia, and others.

The Orlando native was a Class of 2024 four-star recruit and ranked as the second-best QB from Florida in that 2024 class.https://t.co/10Sz3YwNKg https://t.co/nwa0L5qolD pic.twitter.com/q8ySZgszVY
This past season, Jackson saw action in only one game for FSU. In that contest, a 41-7 blowout of Charleston Southern, he didn't attempt a pass and ran only once for two yards.
However, as a high school player, he was a finalist in the prestigious Elite 11 QB competition. That shows that he was highly-regarded as a prospect and is an indication that he could compete to eventually become Arkansas' QB1 in future seasons.
However, he will have competition if he wants to be Green's backup in 2025. Right now, redshirt freshman KJ Jackson has to have the edge in that race after he spent all spring running with the Hogs' second team.
However, Jackson is far from a proven commodity either. In 2024, he also saw action in only one game, completing all four of his passes for 59 yards.
It will be fascinating to see how the battle between the two Jacksons shakes out in fall camp. But by bringing in Trever Jackson, Pittman and his staff have added another talented option to the mix and that's never a bad idea.
