The Hogs earn a 'W' in their first game of the season. Arkansas demolished Alabama A&M 52-7.
Arkansas takes care of business against Alabama A&M
After not inspiring much hope in the first half, the Razorbacks opened the second with three-and-out and countered with back-to-back touchdown drives. Arkansas held the Bulldogs to just 76 yards, including 36 through the air after giving up 130 in the first.
The defense shared the load, with no one recording more than four total tackles. Steven Dix Jr., Shakur Smalls, and Julian Neal all led the Hogs with four tackles. However, the team has six tackles for loss, including two sacks.
Perhaps the biggest story of the afternoon was Taylen Green showing off his arm. After working all offseason with offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino, the former Boise State Bronco became the second Arkansas quarterback (Brandon Allen) to throw six or more touchdowns in a single game. To put that in context, last season, Green only threw 15; with two more, he'll have over half of 2024's total in just two games.
What's more, six Razorback pass catchers scored tonight, including running back Mike Washington. The New Mexico transfer had an okay day, rushing for only 50 yards on eight carries. However, on the final scoring drive, Washington busted a 30-yarder that nearly went to the house. That wasn't enough for him, though. Washington scored his on a 27-yard pass from KJ Jackson in the subsequent play.
