Hog Hoops self-inflicted injuries haunted Arkansas at Texas A&M

Despite beating the Aggies at their own game, Arkansas couldn't stop the self-inflicted injuries, giving the game to Texas A&M.

The Hogs couldn't get out of their own way this afternoon, losing in an ugly game against Texas A&M, 69-61.

Arkansas started on an 8-0 run, shutting down the Aggies' offense before the first media timeout. But it was all Texas A&M from there. The Hogs managed to even the score a few times but would never retake the lead.

While A&M is one of the best in the country at offensive rebounds and second-chance points, the Razorbacks shut it down, giving up only seven points from offensive boards. However, Texas A&M still shot the ball nine times more than Arkansas, and that's because of the turnovers.

The Hogs had some of the dumbest giveaways they've made all season. Whether cross-court in transition or into a crowded lane, Arkansas tried to force passes in the worst situations. For example, when they were tied up at 50 points with 9:24 to go, Arkansas gave the Aggies back-to-back turnovers, initiation a 9-0 run.

On defense, A&M did an excellent job limiting Arkansas's new weapon, Zvonimir Ivisic. He barely had an opportunity to play any pick-n-pop or roll sets because the Aggies were stuck to his side like glue. It wasn't until the final minutes that the seven-foot-2-inch shooter drained his first three. Instead, Karter Knox led the team with 17 points, knocking down 7/9 from the field and 3/4 from the arc.

Arkansas doesn't get a break to catch its breath. No. 1 Auburn is next on the schedule, and the Hogs must travel to Neville Arena to take them on. At this point, a loss won't hurt the Razorbacks, especially on the road, but a win could make a great case for an NCAA Tournament bid.
