In a thrilling clash of top-20 programs, Arkansas (17) defeated Texas Tech (16), 93-86, in a game that showcased the Razorbacks’ resilience, sharpshooting, and rising star power. The win improves Arkansas to 8-2 on the season, while Texas Tech falls to 7-3.

Early Struggles, Then a Fierce Arkansas Comeback

The Red Raiders jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first half, marking the highest probability point for a Texas Tech win at 81.5%, according to ESPN. Donovan Atwell’s 3-pointer made it 36-26 with 5:55 remaining, Texas Tech’s largest lead of the game up to that point.

But basketball is a game of runs, and Arkansas proved why they belong in the top 20. The Razorbacks fought back with stellar 3-point shooting, going 10-for-19 from beyond the arc, and received big performances from Darius Acuff Jr., Karter Knox, and Trevon Brazile, who combined for 64 points.

  • Trevon Brazile: 24 points, 10 rebounds
  • Darius Acuff Jr.: 20 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, only 2 turnovers
  • Karter Knox: Contributed 20 points to the scoring surge

Acuff Jr., the star freshman guard, has now delivered three consecutive games of consistent production, looking increasingly comfortable and confident as the season progresses. Brazile’s double-double and Knox’s timely scoring made this a balanced attack that Texas Tech struggled to contain.

Shooting, Rebounding, and Clean Play

Arkansas played a near-flawless game in the second half, finishing with:

  • 52% shooting from the field
  • 51% from three
  • Only 7 turnovers
  • 40-33 rebounding advantage

Despite the offensive efficiency, the Razorbacks still have room for improvement on the defensive end, particularly in the paint, where Texas Tech found easy points. Tightening up down-low will be crucial as Arkansas faces stiffer competition in the coming weeks.

Texas Tech’s Efforts

The Red Raiders were led by:

  • JT Toppin: 30 points, 11 rebounds
  • Christian Anderson: 26 points, 11 assists

Arkansas had a tough time stopping both of Texas Tech's star players in this one. JT Toppin showed why he's one of the nation's best players and took advantage of a clear weak point for the Razorbacks in the paint. Both players had excellent nights, but Arkansas’ balanced attack and sharpshooting ultimately proved too much to overcome.

What This Win Means for The Razorbacks

This victory is a statement win for the Razorbacks, marking their third consecutive win and showing they are hitting their stride. With upcoming matchups against Queens NC and 7th-ranked Houston, Arkansas appears poised for more marquee victories. The Razorbacks’ combination of talent, shooting, and resilience makes them a team to watch as they look to continue rising up the rankings.
